In der Podiumsdiskussion geht es nochmals um eine vertiefte Auseinandersetzung mit den in den Referaten und den Diskussionen in den Kleingruppen angesprochenen Themen rund um den Gebrauch und Missbrauch der neuen Medien durch Kinder und Jugendliche: Positive und negative Aspekte der Mediennutzung, Gewaltspiele, Rolle der wissenschaftlichen Forschung und deren Einfluss auf die Praxis, Präventive und therapeutische Massnahmen und schliesslich die Frage der Kontrolle, welche Spiele angeboten und verkauft werden dürfen durch Hersteller und staatliche Instanzen. Präventiv sind Elternhaus und Schule gefordert, die Jugendlichen aufzuklären und ihnen Grenzen zu setzen. Selbstkontrolle durch die Hersteller sollte über das Thema Gewalt hinausgehen und auch das Suchtpotential der Spiele berücksichtigen, wichtig sei die Einhaltung der Alterslimiten. Der Staat sei gefordert, dort einzugreifen, wo es um die Respektierung der Menschenwürde und die Suchtgefährdung durch Spiele gehe.

The podium discussion was once again an in depth discussion with the presenters/lecturers and discussions in small groups on the addressed themes dealing with the use and misuse of the new media by children and adolescents: positive and negative aspects of the media use, war games, the role of the scientific research and the influence on the practice, preventative and therapeutic measures and finally the question of control, which games are offered and are permitted to be sold by manufacturers and by governmental bodies. With regard to preventative measures, parents and schools are encouraged to provide clarification to young persons and to set boundaries. Self-control by the manufacturers should go beyond the theme violence and also take into account the addictive potential of the games. What is important is age limit compliance. The State is required to get involved there where the respect for human dignity and the danger of addiction is raised by the games.
