Verfahrensdokumentation für EHILS: Everyday Health Information Screening Tool - deutsche Version

Abstract / Description

Das EHILS erfasst Selbsteinschätzungen gesundheitsbezogener Informationskompetenzen. Es dient der Operationalisierung des Konzepts der "Gesundheitsbezogenen Informationskompetenz", das seinerseits das psychologische Konzept der "Gesundheitskompetenz" mit dem bibliothekarisch-informationswissenschaftlichen Konzept der "Informationskompetenz" integriert. Der Fragebogen umfasst 10 Items. Reliabilität: Die Alpha-Werte nach Cronbach liegen im Bereich zwischen .50 und .60, für die Retestkorrelation über ein 2-Wochen-Intervall ergab sich ein Wert von rtt = .65. Validität: Das EHILS korreliert in hypothesenkonformer Weise mit etablierten Selbstberichtsmaßen zur Erfassung des breiter angelegten Konzepts der Gesundheitskompetenz sowie mit dem individuellen Interesse am Thema "Gesundheit". Mit einem Wissensmaß zur gesundheitsbezogenen Informationskompetenz fanden sich schwache, überwiegend ebenfalls bedeutsame Korrelationen. Faktorenanalytische Befunde sprechen jedoch gegen die strukturelle Validität des EHILS und legen die Annahme einer zweidimensionalen Struktur mit "Motivation" und "Selbstvertrauen" im Umgang mit Gesundheitsinformationen nahe.
The EHILS measures self-assessments of health information literacy. It serves to operationalise the concept of "health information literacy", which in turn integrates the psychological concept of "health literacy" with the library information science concept of "information literacy". The questionnaire contains 10 items. Reliability: The alpha values according to Cronbach are in the range between .50 and .60, for the retest correlation over a 2-week interval a value of rtt = .65 was obtained. Validity: The EHILS correlates in a hypothesis-compliant way with established self-report measures for the recording of the broader concept of health competence as well as with the individual interest in the topic "health". With a knowledge measure on health information literacy, weak correlations were found that were also predominantly significant. Factor analytical findings, however, speak against the structural validity of EHILS and suggest the assumption of a two-dimensional structure with "motivation" and "self-confidence" in dealing with health information.
