Abstract / Description

Performance of head self-locators and heart self-locators on the expanded cognitive reflection test (CRT7) was compared. 66 participants took part in an online study. Individuals identified the place in the body which best described the location of their “self” and, then, completed the CRT7. The hypothesis that head self-locators would outperform heart self-locators on the CRT7 was supported. Head self-locators relied more on rational (System 2) thought. Heart self-locators relied more on intuitive (System 1) thought.
